AVENTURA, Fla. (March 28, 2019) – The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center’s 2018-2019 season continues with a May schedule that includes the best of classical and jazz music, children’s performances and international film.

Grease Junior - Heroes of Hip Hop will delight audiences of all ages as it pays homage to this timeless story on Friday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. This fun and modern tribute to the classic story of Grease! incorporates outstanding acting and high-energy choreography, all performed by the highly trained young members of the Heroes of Hip Hop Theatrical Company. Tickets are $25 - $35. 

Miami International Piano Festival presents Florian Noack in a program featuring Stravinsky’s Suite from Firebird and works by Chopin and Scriabin on Sunday, May 5 at 5 p.m. Noack, a young Belgian pianist, was named “Emerging Artist of the Year" by ECHO Klassik. With a strong sense of rhythm and a sensitivity of touch, he has won numerous prizes at national and international competitions, including the Rachmaninov International Competition, International Robert Schumann Competition and Piano Competition in Cologne. He performs regularly at many festivals in Asia and Europe This concert is not suggested for children under 10 years of age. Tickets are $35–$50.

Let Yourself Go, winner of Best Comedy at the 2017 Golden Globes, crowns the Aventura International Film Series season on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. It’s mind versus matter in Francesco Amato’s comedy about an uptight psychiatrist who is told to get himself back into shape and gets more than just a physical workout when he signs up for personal training sessions with an attractive young instructor.  Not rated, this film is shown in Italian with English subtitles. The Aventura International Film Series presented by the City of Aventura is hosted by Shelly Isaacs who introduces the film and leads a post-screening discussion. Tickets are $12.    

Gregory LéDon, acclaimed saxophonist, flautist and composer, calls for world peace by way of jazz in Praying for Jerusalem is Praying for the World – Give Jazz a Chance on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. LéDon’s talent is unmatched but it is his vision that sets him apart. Once confined to a hospital bed with blood clots in his lungs, he prayed for healing with the earnest promise that he would use his gift to change the world. Delivering remarkable renditions of original songs and classic favorites, his team of talented musicians treat listeners to Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue”, Dizzy Gillespie’s “A Night in Tunisia”, and the magic of John Coltrane’s iconic style with the reggae wonderment of Bob Marley will leave you delighted. He also surprises guests with a powerhouse performance of “Hava Nagila.” Tickets are $30 - $50.

The 10th Annual Baila Flamenco Student Dance Festival celebrates "25 and 10 in our Feet" on Sunday, May 19 at 5 p.m. This special performance commemorates the director's 25 years of professional experience and Baila Flamenco Dance Studio’s 10 year anniversary. The presentation will showcase the dance troupe’s most acclaimed choreography from the past decade with pieces such as "Homenaje a Lola Flores", "A ti Venezuela" and "Inspiracion Salvador Dali" and feature artists of all ages, some as young as four years old, along with a special performance by the Baila Flamenco Dance Company. Tickets are $25 – 45, $15-$20 student tickets available.
